A man has been jailed for four years and eight months after a masked gang burst into an estate agency and tried to rob it.
Wayne James was one of three balaclava-wearing men who rushed into Catlows in Leeds last August demanding to see the safe.
Mohammed Butt was alone in the agency and was forced into a small office at the back of the premises where he was hit with a metal bar and hammer.
He picked up a knife used to open mail and tried to defend himself with it. One of the attackers grabbed the knife by the blade and pulled it from his hand before the gang fled empty-handed.
Blood found on the blade matched the DNA of James, 32, who admitted attempted robbery. The court heard that he had been caught up in a family rift.
