Bidwells has been appointed by Present Made, Apache Capital’s single-family Housing operational platform, as lettings agent for Cambridge’s first-ever housing scheme designed exclusively for rental.
This milestone project sets a new standard for rental living, offering high-quality homes tailored to meet the evolving needs of modern families while addressing pressing local housing need, according to the agency.
“This is a truly ground breaking development for Cambridge and a significant step forward for the UK rental market,” said Alex Bloxham, partner and head of residential lettings at Bidwells. “The combination of innovative design, sustainable construction methods, and a focus on creating a vibrant, healthy community makes this scheme a model for the future of housing. This project not only meets the growing demand for high-quality rental homes but also set new standards for sustainability and family living.”
Alan Penfold, managing director of Present Made, commented: “This new development will introduce high-quality single-family rental housing to Cambridge for the first time, and we are excited about the rollout of Present Made’s first neighbourhood. With Bidwells’ unparalleled knowledge of Cambridge and their extensive experience, combined with the development’s construction excellence, sustainability focus and strong community ethos, we anticipate high demand from modern families seeking exceptional homes that meet their lifestyle needs.”
You won’t find these developments in the North because the employment isn’t there. This is Cambridge, where rents for flats start at more than £2k pm and houses more than £3k, and I’m sure they will all let. This is not classic BTL, and with the government announcing yet more investment in the Oxford Cambridge Arc, expect to see more. It won’t do anything to alleviate the housing crisis for everyday renters, but will establish a new asset class for investors who believe renting at the high end will become the norm for those who can afford it.
With a socialist government set on stealing more and more of your estate through IHT, why would you want the responsibility of ownership?
