Welcome to “Landlords’ Barometer #23”, bringing you a round of trending topics for landlords and property professionals.
Those pesky tax changes are still causing massive concern within the landlord community, with all forums featuring multiple discussions on this thorny topic.
1. 20% of landlords to quit following tax changes
A recent poll of 2,000 landlords suggested that 20% of them want to quit, following the Summer Budget 2015 tax changes.
We have now started a poll for Property Tribes members and from 217 votes cast*, only 12% of our landlords are thinking of exiting. 44% say that they are going to keep calm and carry on!
* at the time of writing.
2. Diary of a high end London property development
London developer Nicole Bremner has chosen Property Tribes to document her latest project, from start to finish – warts and all! She has already shared floor plans, budgets, and how she intends to finance the project, which should achieve over £500k gross profit on completion. Lots to be learned from this up-dating “as it happens” documentary thread!
3. Video diary – A day in the life of a lettings agent
Dorian Gonsalves, director of Belvoir, is one of our contributors as Belvoir Franchising sponsor our Entrepreneurial Tribe discussions, where landlords discuss other property-related income streams and developing an entrepreneurial mindset.
Dorian has shared a new Video Diary – “A Day in the life of Belvoir Leamington Spa” – which features the rockin’ husband and wife duo, John and Sue Warburton.
4. Checklist for property inspections
A great addition to Property Tribes by Jason Harris-Cohen of Open Property Group who shares his checklist of things to look out for when inspecting a property for purchase.
5. The London Rental Standard – #rentbetter
The Mayor of London has re-ignited the LRS campaign with a new tranche of activity to reach out to landlords. Watch a reprise of my interview with Richard Blakeway, Deputy Mayor of London and find out more about the educational video tools for landlords that you can share to help promote the initiative.
