Welcome to “Landlords’ Barometer #20”, a Summer Budget 2015 special!
Last week, the Chancellor sent a tsunami through the landlord community with tax reforms for buy-to-let. It is vital that all lettings agents are up to speed on how this could potentially affect their business, and also be able to answer their landlord client concerns.
1. Summer Emergency Budget from a landlord and property perspective
I live blogged the Budget as it happened and the thread has subsequently had over 23,000 views and over 250 replies, showing just what an impact this has had on landlords.
2. Five ways to beat the Budget
Property Tribes tax partner Rental Income Tax Advisors created this valuable post to help landlords remain in the property game, as it is already apparent that some of them are thinking of exiting their investments.
Please feel free to share this helpful post with your landlord clients as many of them will be worried and confused.
3. Trend in lenders tightening up their BTL criteria?
There have been a number of announcements from lenders in the last few days, and I wondered if I was seeing a trend and how the Budget would affect mortgage lenders.
4. Budget fightback: incorporating a property lettings business
Rental Income Tax Advisors were able to answer the questions raised.
5. A couple of dates for your diary.
The Autumn Property Investor Show, the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of UK & International residential property (and services) presented in Europe each year, returns to ExCeL London for its ‘Autumn edition’ on October 9 & 10.
Reflecting the investor appetite for ‘Northern Powerhouse’ locations, regional specialists including Knight Knox, Sequre and Keppie Massie will display a broad selection of opportunities available in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Nottingham, Yorkshire and Glasgow.
In addition to ‘traditional Bricks & Mortar’, categories including Property Finance (including Crowdfunding), Student Rooms, Luxury International Resorts, Housing Associations, Furnishings, FX and Franchises will be represented in the hall.
