Land Registry records just under 70,000 sales transactions in February

The Land Registry recorded 69,815 property transactions in February, data on its workload reveals.

The numbers, while not necessarily showing the transactions each month due to the time taken to register transactions, gives an indication of how busy the organisation has been.

Overall during the month there were 1.5m applications on the Land Registry.

Of these, 337,220 were applications in respect of registered land, 736,518 were to obtain an official copy of a register or title plan, 177,050 were searches and 69,815 were property sales registrations, referred to as transactions for value.

The busiest conveyancer was My Home Move with 1,459 transactions for value, followed by O’Neill Patient with 902 and Countrywide Property Lawyers with 679.

The top three customers for searches were Enact with 8,471, O’Neill Patient with 5,937 and Optima Legal Services with 5,217.

The south-east of England had the most applications overall at 354,091, while East Anglia was among the lowest with 61,003
