Is this what a founder of Purplebricks is getting up to now? Clue: It aims to be disruptive

Could one or both of the Bruce brothers be making a come-back? Or simply giving a helping hand to a friend and former colleague who is launching a new business?

Something called LaunchB is getting its first airing and we came across it via a link on Michael Bruce’s Twitter account.

We know little of it, other than it is a “fully funded start-up from a founder of Purplebricks” and that it is in central Birmingham.

It is also recruiting for engineers who will be “operating in a Lean-Agile environment and apply DevOps philosophies and practices, with a fail-fast, learn-fast mentality”.

We also know that the chief technical officer is James Spencer, who says it is an “exceptionally exciting time at LaunchB” which is building up a “disruptive, cutting edge solution”.

A head of written communication is also being sought – someone who will be “joining a team of people who have a track record of changing the status quo”.

What we don’t know is what LaunchB is about.

Cars? Property? Legal? Refurbs?

The company number on the site leads to PD Innovations, based in Birmingham, incorporated last July, and whose sole director is named as David Shepherd.

Shepherd was previously a Purplebricks director and along with Michael and Kenny Bruce helped start the business, coming up with the name ‘Purplebricks’ as the three sat round a kitchen table.

A 198k concrete late 60s  ,28 storey big beast which has been refurbished  with many start up occupants. Plenty of room for expansion if needed!

It seems that the CTO has already left the building, according to his LinkedIn profile.

As his previous job was CIO for Lovehoney, responsible apparently for “UX”, perhaps he just wasn’t getting the same buzz out of this job as the last one…

    …ooooohhh errrrr, Matron!!

Sounds like David Shepherd, a young, willing and capable sidekick of the Bruces from their Burchell Edwards / BE Legal days, who was then CTO in the early days of Purplebricks is setting up on his own. Good luck to him.
