A free webinar being hosted by Goodlord tomorrow at 10am will offer agents and landlords a detailed overview of the Renters’ Reform Bill, now the long awaited first draft of the milestone legislation has been published.
Ryan Heaven, solicitor at Dutton Gregory, will join Goodlord’s director of insurance, Oli Sherlock, for the session, which has been designed to give industry stakeholders an opportunity to get to grips with legislation, understand what they need to prepare for, and ask questions.
The hosts will also outline what we know so far, the opposition certain elements of the bill may face in the Parliamentary process, which areas are still to be decided, and what timelines the industry should be planning for.
The Bill, finally released this week after years of speculation, confirmed plans to abolish Section 21 and empower tenants to keep ‘pets in lets’. It also revealed that assured short-term tenancies are set to be replaced by a move to periodic tenancies.
Sherlock commented: “After literally years of waiting, we finally have a piece of legislation to get to grips with. The industry will need to move quickly to ensure they’re ready for these changes when they become law. We hope this webinar will help agents and landlords understand what the bill contains, where the grey areas remain, and what they need to do now to prepare for the implementation of these once-in-a-generation changes.”
Heaven added: “This is a big, detailed piece of legislation. That means there’s a huge amount of content for landlords and agents to grapple with. I hope I can shine some light on some of the more obscure changes outlined in the Bill, as well as answer any questions on what these changes will mean for the industry on a practical level.”
