House prices fall back for fifth time in a year – Halifax

House prices drifted down 0.4% in October, the Halifax has reported.

The “seasonally adjusted” average last month was £186,135.

It slowed annual house price inflation to 8.8%, from 9.6% in September.

According to Halifax, annual house price inflation reached a peak of 10.2% in July.

October’s dip in prices was the fifth monthly decline reported by Halifax in the past year.
