Sales were up 4.1% over the year and 15% over the month in England, 4.2% annually in Scotland and 7.9% on a monthly basis, while Northern Ireland saw a 4.6% annual increase and 11.2% monthly rise.
On a seasonally-adjusted basis, transactions were up 4.3% both annually and monthly to 103,680.
