HM Land Registry has launched its Strategy 2025+, setting out how it plans to work with government, customers and industry partners to deliver faster, smarter and more accessible digital property services.
The organisation says the strategy responds directly to customer feedback, focusing on reducing common application errors, improving transparency, and making its data easier to access and use. The goal: a property market that’s quicker, simpler and less stressful for everyone involved.
Among the key priorities are the creation of easy-to-use digital services that work securely on any device, and the rollout of real-time updates so customers can check the progress of their applications instantly.
Processing times are already improving, supported by the recruitment of more than 2,000 new caseworkers and the launch of a Land Registration Academy to train and upskill staff. But HM Land Registry says it wants to go further — and sees technology as the key to unlocking the next stage of progress.
Strategy 2025+ outlines plans to invest in automation, artificial intelligence and secure digital systems, while accelerating the digitisation of local land charges data. The organisation also aims to strengthen collaboration across government and the property sector to agree common data standards, paving the way for a more connected and efficient property market.
Iain Banfield, interim chief executive and chief land registrar, said: “HM Land Registry is undergoing its most significant transformation in over 20 years to serve our customers better. Strategy 2025+ represents our commitment to unlock a better, faster and less stressful property market for everyone through improved digital services, enhanced expertise, and customer-centric approaches.
“This transformation will play a key role in supporting government ambitions – from building new homes and regenerating places, to unlocking clean energy infrastructure and transforming planning.”
