HF Resolution Ltd, a subsidiary of Hamilton Fraser which operates both a tenancy deposit scheme and a redress scheme, has acquired well-known eviction firm Landlord Action.
Landlord Action was founded by Paul Shamplina in 1999 as a fixed-fee tenant eviction service. It has since acted in more than 35,000 problem tenant cases and obtained Solicitors Regulation Authority status in 2013.
Shamplina himself has become a well-known authority on ‘nightmare tenants’, and is a regular on television.
Campaigning extensively for landlord rights, Landlord Action played an instrumental role in changing the law to make squatting a criminal offence in 2012.
Insurance company Hamilton Fraser is owner and scheme administrator for mydeposits, and through HF Resolution runs the Property Redress Scheme. It also offers a client money protection product.
Shamplina, who has been a ‘brand ambassador’ for Hamilton Fraser since last year, stays with the business. He will continue to head up Landlord Action, along with his legal team who will now be based at Hamilton Fraser’s offices in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
Shamplina said: “The acquisition not only complements Hamilton Fraser’s existing business, but is a great platform from which to grow Landlord Action.”
Eddie Hooker, CEO of Hamilton Fraser, said: “Landlord Action has built an excellent reputation with a solid record for success and we have enjoyed working more closely with the team over the last few years.
“This next step is an opportunity for both companies to merge their industry experience and skills to provide a comprehensive suite of services to landlords and agents.”
The purchase price has not been disclosed.
Well done Paul, Eddie, Sean. All great guys who work passionately at what they do.

He does make me cringe on TV but do like his message and ethos.
