Guild cuts costs to agents by half, saying: ‘If we can do it, so can Rightmove’

The Guild is to halve its membership fees for six months, and include digital tools in the price.

The price will be cut from £495 to £247.50 from April 1.

CEO Iain McKenzie said: “Our profit margin is nowhere near that of Rightmove’s, but if we can do this, so can they.

“While Rightmove has announced that agents can defer payment of their fees, this is not enough.

“We are taking the necessary measure in our business to support new and longstanding Guild members.

“Everyone within the sector will need to work together to get through this and come out on the other side.”

He said that the tools and services which will now come as part of the newly reduced membership cost will enable its 800 agents to work remotely from home if necessary.

McKenzie said: “We will not be reducing the services we provide to our members and we are working harder than ever to launch the necessary tools agents will require to continue conducting business in this challenging environment.

“Our tech team is working 24/7 to make sure our agents get access to all the digital services they need.”

The Guild, which also operates listings for its members, has also not ruled out suggestions that it might run a national portal for the industry.

Jon Cooke, group CEO of eprop services, parent company of both the Guild and Fine & Country, said: “I can’t comment on this at the moment.

“However, we are looking at all options.”

Well done to Iain, and his team. in supporting our industry. We are all in this together and every supplier needs to take its share of the financial burden. The Guild have done this unprompted!

as always, the Guild is leading the way in supporting the industry and I hope other suppliers follow suit – you know who you are guys, Whether you have you agents in contract or not is not important at this time.

Its about staying safe and getting through this.

This is fantastic news for Guild members and a great touch from an organisation who really care about their members while supplying truly valuable resources.

I hope that Rightmove can follow suit and do the right thing.

    Well done Iain
