Agency gives financial support to local hospice

Midlands estate agency Nicol & Co has donated £7,300 to St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

The donation is one of scores that have been made to local charities, schools and groups from the company’s community fund that has now topped £25,000.

Nicol & Co, which has three branches in Droitwich, Malvern and Worcester, launched the scheme in March 2021 by pledging £100 to the seller’s good cause of choice for every property sale it handles.

Matt Nicol [pictured], managing director of Nicol & Co, said:

“We’re delighted that so many of our clients have chosen St Richard’s Hospice to benefit from the community fund.

“It was a humbling experience to be invited to have a brief tour of the hospice to see how staff look after the 1,200 people in their care.

“Seventy-three of the clients who have used Nicol & Co, and have gone on to complete their sales since last June, picked St Richard’s Hospice for their community fund donation.

“Our scheme is a small drop in the ocean for what the organisation needs to raise each year, but it’s pleasing to play our part.”

A spokesperson for St Richard’s Hospice said: “Thank you so much to Nicol & Co for its continued support in helping us to continue being for patients, their loved ones and bereaved people across Worcestershire.”

Agent Honoured With Local Community-Pride Status

An estate agency in Snodland, Kent, has been honoured with an award for services to the local community.

CWB Property was presented with the Pride of Snodland award for the support it provides local people, particularly for its efforts during the first lockdown in 2020.

The agency’s owner, Warren Bowman, said:

“When we went into lockdown, there was a sense of confusion which turned to natural anxiety among our community.

“I wanted to do something to help local vulnerable people. So we spoke with a few clients and neighbours, and it was clear there was an issue around collecting and delivering prescriptions and essentials like food.

“We created a leaflet that offered help to anyone who needed it. We put posts out across all the local Facebook sites telling people what we were doing and managed to get 7500 leaflets delivered in one day by volunteers.

“We helped hundreds of local people who needed it, and this unexpected but greatly appreciated award is a testimony to the kindness and compassion our team and volunteers showed. It was truly astonishing and showed the community spirit we have in this area.”

The Mayor of Snodland, Sue Bell,  praised Warren and the agency’s work when she presented the award on Saturday, 2 July. She said:

“We are so grateful to you and your team for the hard work and generosity you showed during lockdown and continue to show to make our community a better place.”

The agency has been an enthusiastic supporter of the local area since it opened in 2016.

Projects over the years have included an Annual Easter Egg Hunt for the Snodland Food Assist charity and its office being a drop-off point for the My Shining Star children’s cancer charity’s Christmas gift appeal.
