Generation Rent on warpath over agents’ fees

A new resource for tenants has been published on the Generation Rent website.

It is currently aimed at tenants moving to, or within, certain London boroughs – Croydon, Ealing, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.

However, other areas are set to be added. It is not known whether these will be outside London.

The new feature links to research done by volunteers in these areas, compiling a list of local letting agents and the fees they charge tenants.

Generation Rent says that, despite the legal requirement for agents to publish fees, a quarter have not done so.

It says there are volunteers in 13 other – unspecified – areas working on the project.
