FREE helpline is launched today by EYE for our subscribers

Today we launch a FREE compliance helpline as a new service for EYE subscribers.

Available to both sales and lettings businesses, it is being provided by David Beaumont, who has been assisting agents with compliance and training for many years through his consultancy business Compliance Matters.

Prior to that he worked in Trading Standards.

A gamekeeper turned poacher, his unique knowledge from both sides of the fence goes back over 20 years.

His clients range from some of the largest to the smallest agencies. He also advises Trading Standards Officers on compliance and acts as an expert witness when required. Until last year David provided compliance and problem-solving advice to NFoPP members. He has also written a large number of articles on compliance for various publications.

He says: “When I started out compliance wasn’t seen as a priority by most agents, but things have changed over the years as obligations and penalties have increased.

“Now compliance needs to be much higher on any agent’s priority list.”

EYE is proud to add the helpline to our services as we near our third birthday.

David and his team are happy to give free telephone advice to EYE subscribers on a wide range of matters, including Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, money laundering, data protection, misleading advertisements, and redress rules.

If you are not already a subscriber – it is one more reason to become one!

The small print!

The advice service is provided free of charge to Property Industry Eye subscribers. Advice is provided via telephone call only and is provided in good faith, taking into account the information provided by the subscriber. The advice provided cannot be seen as definitive as only the courts can ultimately decide compliance matters, and as such no liability is accepted by the adviser or Property Industry Eye.

The big print!

The number to call is 0161 727 0798

What an AMAZING offer. Thank you David (and EYE).

Are you free for a chat in about 10 minutes time?

    So what’s the hidden catch?

Seems far to good to be true?

If it is how it seems this really is to be applauded and very generous 🙂

    ‘misleading advertisements’

Great offer… thanks PIE. I understand why, but what a great pity we can’t have a case study article from David about a certain TV advert at the moment that appears to make people think an online lister will sell their house for free!

A very generous offer from PIE! Thank you.

No bets being taken on this being the message you’ll receive at nine O’Clock this morning if you call in though:

“Thank you for calling the PIE legal helpline, your call is important to us. We are experiencing high volumes at the moment and Mr Beaumont is currently helping other callers. You are number twenty nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine in the queue. We appreciate your patience. Thank you for holding”

How very cynical of you Mr Wood.
So whose liability and/or professional indemnity policy do we claim on if the advice is wrong? Just asking!

What a very good idea. I do hope people use this service sparingly so it remains available.

Well done David and well done Ros and Nick.

No hidden catch to the helpline – you simply confirm your PIE subscription email address to get the advice.

Sorry Chris – No automated answering, but you might have to leave a message and I will call you back.

Thanks David. If you have an hour or two free, I’d love to chat sometime.

Looking at his bio, the format is tried and tested as he has offered this before when he set up his biz by offering the hotline for NAEA in the early days. Well done Eye, and remember nothing in life worth having is free, so they will charge at some point, however ignorance is not an excuse. This is is a great resource for those independents and small agents on limited budgets to ensure compliance rather than your own version/interpretation of compliance….even the big agents need to understand they can be flawed in their interpretation as I have just proved to one of the very big boys! BOOOOOMMM! Go ahead punk, make my day…sorry drifting off there on a little skirmish I had and won..

Love the photo of David B…but is it PMA/CPR compliant soft tones…..:-)

For all you cynics out there – just rang the hotline with a genuine issue – the call was answered by David on the first ring and sound advice was given to me.

    Thumbs up
