Franchisees launch UK’s first dual travel and estate agency

Franchisees Chris Hollins and Anya McCormack have launched The Good Travel Agent’s first high street branch in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. The location also houses The Good Estate Agent, with Hollins operating as a franchisee of both brands.

The branch, located at 93 St Clair Street, underwent a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening last week.

“When customers come in, they will be able to buy a house or book a holiday,” McCormack told Travel Gossip. “The businesses will run side by side.”

Hollins became a franchisee of The Good Estate Agent six years ago and was among the first to join The Good Travel Agent when it launched two years later. McCormack came on board in April after retiring from her full-time role.

Hollins told Travel Weekly: “I think we were the second to have a franchise [with The Good Travel Agent] and now we’re the first to have shop, so it’s a great feeling.

“For us, it’s not about the money, but about getting the brand out there and having people know us and come in the door, delivering personal service and getting first customers to become repeat customers.”

He added the business would recruit for part-time support in the coming weeks.

Hollins said: “We’re trying to get away from the standard high street store, for example by putting my Lego around the shop, number plates of where we’ve been and other things like that to make it more personal.”

The Good Travel Agent CEO Jake Cullum-Hollins said: “I am super excited for the launch of our very first retail store. Chris and Anya were one of our first franchise owners and are now our first retail franchisees.

“Retail stores were never really on our agenda, but Chris and Anya came to us with a solid plan and we wanted to help them make it happen.

“We wish them all the best with their plans and can’t wait to see their store flourish in their local community.”
