Former letting agent who led the transformation of London’s Olympic village steps down

Build to Rent pioneer Neil Young is leaving Get Living, the firm behind transforming the former London Athletes’ Village into a huge rental-only development of 2,000 homes.

Young has been chief executive for five years, and formerly ran his own business Young Group, which included a private lettings business.

Under his tenure, Get Living has expanded its tenure to 8,000 homes with plans to deliver 12,500 within five years.

He is leaving to pursue unspecified new ventures.

Young said: “It’s been an honour to be part of the Get Living journey over the past eight years, initially in an advisory capacity through Young Group, taking it from a start-up to a £2bn enterprise.

“Innovation is my passion and to have led the disruption of the UK rental market through initiatives such as not charging fees, long-term tenancies and scrapping deposits, has been fantastic.

“Now Get Living has reached a significant scale, it is an appropriate time for me to look for new opportunities to put my creative skills to work in new and established ventures.”

At Get Living, current executive chairman Rick De Blaby will take the leading role in the organisation.
