Little Florence Jackson’s family have expressed their heartfelt thanks for the donations that have poured in, to give the two-year-old a chance of life.
However, they have asked for the fundraising to keep going, as they believe they will have other expenses. Anything that is unspent will be donated to other similar causes.
The parents of Florence, who is currently undergoing yet another round of chemotherapy in her battle against Neuroblastoma, have been told by doctors in this country that her tumour is inoperable.
However, estate agent Rod Jackson and his wife Carolyn have found a surgeon in New York who has a successful track record in operating on cases such as Florence.
Exactly two weeks ago, the Jacksons launched a Just Giving appeal for £250,000.
Remarkably – and helped along by the stunning generosity of EYE readers who backed #FlorenceDay – that target was reached on Friday afternoon.
The next crucial date for Florence is next week, on February 10.
The Jacksons, including Florence’s older sister, have now posted this:
“WOW!!!!
“WE REALLY DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY! WE CANNOT BELIEVE WE HAVE ACHIEVED OUR TARGET IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AND REALLY NEVER IMAGINED IT WOULD HAPPEN SO QUICKLY. IT’S OVERWHELMING!
“Words can’t describe how incredibly grateful we are that our beautiful Flo now has the ability to get the medical attention she needs to give her a chance to live. This message is for every single person who has donated, is doing fundraising events, has shared Flo’s story on social media, spread the word with people they meet and just shown such incredible love, support and generosity – THANK YOU!!
“So what happens now?
“This now enables us to engage further with the surgeon in New York and once we have the latest CT scan results which are due on February 10 and after Flo’s third cycle of chemotherapy, he will review Flo’s condition.
“We will of course keep you informed every step of the way. As we were unable to engage with the specialists until we had the funds in place, your amazing support has us one step closer to having the surgery Flo desperately needs.
“There of course may well be additional costs on top of this such as flights, insurance, accommodation and future preventative treatments.
“Any surplus funds would of course be used in supporting similar good causes. Therefore, we have one further request… LETS KEEP GOING!

“If you have further requests please email flo@flosfight.com whilst as a family we focus on getting Flo the treatment she needs to get us to New York – thank you!
“Lots of love and a massive thank you!!
“Carolyn, Rod, Charlotte and of course Flo”

The fact that the fund had reached target on Friday made my weekend….lovely to see such good news. My congratulations to everyone that helped. We should all feel very proud of helping give a little girl a chance of life. Hold your heads up high and know you have done something truly remarkable to start the year off. Many, many thanks to PIE for bringing the story to our attention!
