Firm which tells landlords to avoid agents is on Rightmove

A firm which advertises listings on Rightmove while simultaneously advising landlords to take control and “not pay letting agents” has passed the portal’s vetting procedures.

Auction Lets says in a flyer, pictured below:

“Attention Landlords

Landlords auction it and tenants bid for it

LANDLORDS TAKE CONTROL

Do not pay letting agents 10%

Auction Lets will let properties for FREE on Rightmove”

A spokesperson for Rightmove told Eye: “Auctionlets.com has been through our vetting process to identify that they work within Rightmove terms and conditions of membership as well as any industry rules and regulations.”

Agent Oliver Walker, of Olivers London, also took up the case with Rightmove, querying how the firm could be on the site.

He said of Rightmove’s response: “This is rather disappointing but nonetheless expected.

“This sort of stance will make my move to Agents Mutual an even easier decision.”

HAHA Rightmove is becoming a complete joke, they opened the floodgates and the water is pouring in, they cant stop these people charging nothing if that's there business model.

Enjoy it while you can RM as you are slowly drowning.

Not sure that RM is slowly drowning…they depend on listings and don't care what commission agents charge. It also isn't in their remit to tell us agents how to run our business.
If this company wants to charge nothing in the hope of building up a lucrative management portfolio then it really is nothing new.
Where RM may suffer is that AM may market itself as the "professional site used by professional agents" it could be a popular niche with discerning viewers/sellers if marketed properly but may equally not make the required impact on its competitors as they will not be listing as many properties initially.

I really don't care about Rightmove, Zoopla, Agents Mutual who or who doesn't advertise with them, I am just so pleased to have Ros Renshaw back at the helm of our industry's news.

The more I see the decisions being made by RM and Zoopla, the more the whole Agents Mutual proposition becomes the obvious choice for independent estate agents moving forward. Any initial concerns that I may have had in regards to which of the two portals to let go of at the year-end is now being crystallised into a decision of whether or not to let them both go…

I do agree. But it is not only the decisions by RM and Zoopla with regard to letting "£9.99" listings and listings from agents that don't even attend the properties" on their sites that is totally unnaceptable it is the CONTEMPT in which they hold their clients (US) . The RM cotracts are complex and sly at best and daylight robbery at worst. They never have simple tarifs for add on products and have , in recent months, taken to blackmail tactics with regard to paying additional sums for going on their "mobile site"(like it's different!). If you don't like it then "give us a months notice" is what comes back immediately in your in box.AWFUL customer service!
As for Zoopla…..I haven't had 1 call, 1 email, 1 anything from anyone at Zoopla since I signed up my £250 p/mth listing contract 11 months ago!!!
APPALLING customer service from them both.

Gotta agree with Wilko over Zoopla. Barely any response or leads from the number 2 site in the UK. I understand that it may vary greatly region to region but here on the sunny South Coast, Zoopla aren't cutting it.
This is why I struggle so much to understand the resistance to the '1 other portal' rule that AM are imposing. For me, RM and A N Other would be fine. I categorically think my business would not be affected if I only used one of the big two.

We see very little of our RM rep, but we do get regular (every 4 months or so) contact from our Zoopla one. If you'd asked me a year ago which of the two I thought delivered more leads, it would have been RM. However, with AM on the horizon, we've been taking much more of an interest in the results and both are pretty level. Ultimately, it will come down to cost v's leads…and that's a closely run race at present….

A very important observation The JB.
Zoopla at £250 a branch per month against RM's current £525 a branch per month is significant bearing in mind the actual leads provided.
I have just done a similar excercise on my leads after reading your post and Zoopla are only about 8% behind RM in my offices…..yet there charges are well over 50% HIGHER!

Wilko – is there much of a difference in the quality of the leads? Not necessarily in the applicant purchasing the property they initially enquired about, but as a general new applicant for the business who then went on to buy?

Zoopla are not as good quality as Rightmove and Zoopla seem to provide their majority of leads for my lower priced stuff, rental stuff, and cheaper areas.?
Not sure if this is a trend elsewhere?
