In a new series of tweets today, Purplebricks boss made it clear that he is perfectly sincere about helping stranded Emoov customers – and will do so for free.
The offer opens tomorrow morning and Emoov customers have until December 21 to take advantage of the offer.
In three tweets, he offers both Emoov and Tepilo customers, whether they have paid a fixed fee or are on deferred payment, to use Purplebricks. In capital letters, he says this will be free of charge. The offer does not apply to those vendors who are on no sale, no fee deal.
In his second tweet, he gives the hotline number, and says Purplebricks will then arrange to value the property and market it “just like all other properties being sold through us”.
He emphasizes that the telephone line will be open from 8am tomorrow morning.
In the third tweet he says: “We’re doing this to help these customers because we believe in doing the right thing. We’re a business built on solid foundations so we’re able to offer hope to these people.”
The administrators James Cowper Kreston might not, however, be best pleased with this generosity – they are trying to sell the 5,000 or so listings. Could the price tag might be about to go down – or disappear altogether?
On the health of the wider sector, Bruce said: “At Purplebricks we’re confident about the future. We’re growing.
“We’re increasing market share. As reported on 6 November, Purplebricks has grown H1 UK revenue by some 20% in a challenging market.
“Our foundations are strong and everyone at Purplebricks is passionately committed to going the extra mile for our customers.
“That’s why we get more homes sold and more sales completed, more quickly than the other ten biggest brands.”
(1/3) It's been clear @emoov was in difficulty for some time & we want to do what we can to help customers. We’re offering @emoov & @tepilo customers who've paid a fixed fee (or deferred payment) & not yet sold their home the opportunity to come to @PurplebricksUK FREE OF CHARGE

Churlish to say the least.
This is not a time for pettiness when someone is prepared to step forward and help customers who are left highand dry.
The season of good will…obviously not in your case!

Bah hum bug!
Bring on the commisery!
Wait a minute…I don’t charge commision, in fact I don’t charge anything if your property doesn’t sell!
Sometimes it’s difficult to see who the good guys are, but if my business goes t**s up, it won’t be everyone else’s money that goes with me…..

They are doing this to help themselves; there is good business logic here
Nothing is always as clear cut as first appears! what about viewings, how much does PB add to offer that service, and what about conveyancing, PB doing that for free as well! Oh no, they will upsell their services crafty B’s

This is good business sense here. This will stop some vendors going out to high street agents, but more importantly it stops the likes of YOPA hoovering the stock up to gain market share.
But are these people actually allowed to jump ship to PB, do they have contracts with Emoov still even though in administration? Or are they free to go wherever as Emoov may be perceived to have breached the terms of their contracts by ceasing to market said vendors homes.
Either way smart move by Brucie, maybe a nightmare for any LPE inheriting a few dozen very grumpy vendors though.
Lastly as i have asked him directly on Twitter, are there any catches, is it truly free or do these newbie vendors have to use the awful services of PPL or pay the normal penalty fee.

Great
Will they also come and collect the for sale signs left by Tepilo and Emoov?
Not really sure why anyone would change from one Take the Money and Run pretender to another . The one local instruction (with the two boards) has moved to my firm for nothing as well.
Until we sell it of course.
When the owner will be very pleased to pay our commisery no doubt.
Merry Christmas

Nice on Mr Bruce but I’m sure they’ll be the usual onslaught of negative comments from all the usual suspects. Fear and jealousy are rife on here.

Quite clever, cuts off any competitor in the market (onliner / hybrid) growing market share and basically makes the tech worthless without instructions.
PB are not doing this as kindness, they are doing it to protect their market position.

NB – Allegedly, without prejudice and I’m only repeating what I heard someone say, nothing to do with me Guv?

Wonder if the LPE’s will be paid for the extra work and will viewings be included? I’m not sure they will see the value in this PR stunt!

“Our foundations are strong and everyone at Purplebricks is passionately committed to going the extra mile for our customers”. They have to as most of the LPE’s live nowhere near the properties they try and market.

Purplebricks continue the business plan of getting shareholders and investors to subsidise growth of market share, whilst not bringing in sufficient funds to cover overheads.

Jingle Bells Jingle Bells
Michael ……will you offer to sell free of charge for your existing PB Clients, otherwise they’ll be pretty hacked off at the Pay Not offer for Emoov Customers whilst existing PB Customers are being asked to Pay
Surely, Free for everyone Michael
I wonder if the LPE’s will be doing all that New Listing work Free of Charge too
Tis the Season to be Jolly!

….. If £12m of television adverts buys 40,000 listings that’s a cost of £300 to buy each listing on top of the cost of the LPE. 300 extra listings will cost some portal costs and that’s it.

I think many agents are offering to help Emoov/Tepilo clients, but I am not sure what revenue can be generated unless there is a no sale no fee model. If PB are offering to market for free with no strings, eg, the vendor does not have to take up related services offered by PB as a pre-condition of their offer to sell them for a zero fee, then this is a generous offer. On a separate point I think it a little strange that Emoov/Tepilo clients who were/are formally on a no-sale no fee basis agreement, have not been invited to join PB, is this not a little bit of discrimination? As PB claim they convert 81% of their stock from listing to exchange, so no risk here, and much revenue to be had.

There was me thinking altruism was dead. Call me cynical but free marketing for them if the offer is taken up. It will be a tough sell even without a fee as those customers may just have lost faith in the online agents.

From their website (https://www.purplebricks.co.uk/emoov):
“Most of our customers prefer to do viewings themselves, but should you wish to add a viewings package to your property then this will be charged at our current rate.
“You will be under no obligation to use any other Purplebricks services but we can, of course, arrange for conveyancing or mortgages.”
