LRG has acquired Chancellors with more than 50 branches across Southern England and Mid Wales.
The Chancellors Group, established in 1807, has a strong local presence in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Surrey, London, Herefordshire, Wiltshire, Worcester and Mid Wales.
The acquisition of this major independent estate agency group adds significant growth to areas LRG already cover but is underrepresented in, supporting its continued growth plans.
It is not clear at this stage whether the branches will remain under their current brands.
LRG were contacted by EYE and we understand a statement will be issued later today.
Update at 1.30pm:
LRG has now confirmed the acquisition.
Matthew Light, group mergers and acquisitions director at LRG, commented: “The acquisition of Chancellors is our largest to date and a prime example of the type of business we are looking to acquire.
“We focus on acquiring prolific regional agencies with strong local reputations, established multi-branch networks, and significant lettings portfolios. Chancellors perfectly fits this profile, strengthening our market share and expanding our geographic reach.”
Michael Cook, CEO, LRG, said: “Chancellors joining the LRG team is a fantastic way to start 2025 and a significant step in our five-year growth strategy. Chancellors is an established business, with a significant property management portfolio and a brand with great heritage.
“Their expertise perfectly complements our existing offerings, and we are particularly excited to establish a presence in new markets like Mid Wales, Herefordshire, South Oxfordshire, and the Cotswolds, expanding our reach and providing our services to a broader client base. We’re delighted to welcome the whole Chancellors team to the LRG family and look forward to a successful partnership.”
good heavens above – I did not see that coming.

Actually, LRG are very similar to Chancellors, both very system/process driven like Foxtons you work to the system or you will struggle

Interesting news, seems like Chancellors have been going down hill recently. That’ll be down to the management structure !

Yes I removed some properties from LRG as they seem to be only interested in employing young up sellers.
