Former director with corporates Mike Gowland has joined estate and lettings agency franchise group HomeXperts to become their operations director.
Gowland, who originally qualified as a chartered surveyor, has almost 30 years’ experience in the property industry.
He has run his own estate agency, been the Yorkshire regional director for Countrywide, and is a former managing director of Bridgfords.
More recently, he has worked for both Sequence, part of the Connells Group, and for LSL, where he was divisional director responsible for establishing and developing its lettings business.
Gowland will take responsibility for the operational side of HomeXperts and will be working with both new and existing franchisees in developing and growing their business.
Gowland said: “I believe that the HomeXperts model, with its combination of well trained and qualified agents providing high levels of customer service combined with a lower cost base, is the way forward for the industry.”
So Mr Gowland most recently worked for Sequence and LSL but you saw fit to mention that he was an ex-director of a C’wide Subsidiary in your headline.
How strange……………..

So you think a headline that reads
Qualified chartered surveyor who has run his own agency, been regional director for Countrywide, is former managing director of Bridgfords, has worked for Sequence, has worked for Connells, has worked for LSL, joins estate agency franchising firm
is more catchy do you?

Surely his most recent employer is most relevant?

I had to google them to find out who they were. 5 minutes on the website and nothing jumps out at me as being revolutionary…. Just the same old story of low overheads….blah…blah…blah. Perhaps someone can enlighten me more?

Why does eye see fit to have the headline about Bridgfords when it is nearly a decade since he left CW?

Because that’s what the ‘Press Release’ will have stated. They are simply reporting what’s being touted around – being, as it states on the tin, the EYE of the property industry for ‘news’.
EYE does make the news occasionally – but not with something this mundane…

What’s the fixation with everyone employing ex-corporate guys who’ve never really had to fight for business (until now of course) and have been backed by huge corporate piggy banks.
I’d much rather look for individuals who have had grass roots, coal face experience of growing their own business from scratch. Surely they’d be better placed to work with new in-experienced businesses. But hey what do I know I’ve only been at this for 30 years!
Guess there will be the usual corporate re-focus on selling mortgages and conveyancing!
