Ex-estate agent launches new proptech recruitment firm

A former estate agent has launched www.hy-re.com, a recruitment company specialising in roles in proptech firms.

Shan Walls, formerly of Winkworth, has set up the new agency in Shoreditch, east London.

Walls said: “This has been a watershed year for technology businesses in the property industry. We have seen explosive growth in firms across the sector, including online agents such as PurpleBricks and businesses that work with existing agents like Fixflo.

“I watched this growth from a desk in my traditional agency office and wondered how I could make my next career move into the world of proptech.

“However, when I realised that there were no recruiters specialising in the field, it became apparent that I should start www.hy-re.com.”

Walls is joined at Hy:Re by proptech expert Eddie Holmes. In addition to his connections throughout the proptech sector, Holmes brings a wealth of recruitment expertise from his time as a regional director at national estate agency recruitment firm AMR.

Great news to see the PropTech industry becoming supported with decent infrastructure, I am sure Shan will do well. Best of luck to him!

    Morning All,

I have to agree with Surreyagent, I am 52 and worked for a huge corporate agent for 23 years (it no longer exists in original form) and now work for an independent (only one office) for last 5 years which was the opposition but I need a clue Please, I have no idea what they are talking about, maybe I am just too old !!!

    Here’s the funny bit…

As pointed out above, they wanted to play on the word ‘hire’.  Unfortunately, the word doesn’t have a lot of movement – so they were kind of bu99ered before they started.

But they gave it a go – of sorts – and this is what we’ve been served up.

THREE VARIATIONS on the theme are being used on the website –

    hyre

    hy:re

    and hy-re

    – the problem being with the first being that hyre.com is already taken (although currently offline…); the second doesn’t compute when in http:// (which is a pity seeing as that is what their logo says – bit of an OOPS moment there…) – so all they are left with is the third, least attractive and obvious version – although they are all basically pretty naff.

I can’t see any legal compliance on the website.  Surely people dealing in this propTECH malarkey know the first thing about what is required to have a LEGALLY compliant website?

But… since when has compliance, standards, honesty or decency been important to the vast majority of companies wanting to leech a buck out of the industry?

    Answers, on a postcard, please…

So let me get this straight… According to his website, the guy who started this has “14 months of experience at Winksworth” as a “top negotiator” is always “keen to start a new business”? Sounds like some real solid credentials.. Definitely not some dodgy guy leeching off the industry who doesn’t know that they’re doing.
