Estate agent’s tribute to Love Actually dance scene proves a social media hit

As Christmas film Love Actually celebrates its 20th anniversary, Sowerbys’ Burnham has created a video, intended to spread some Christmas cheer and smiles among the community.

The short video see’s the firm’s manager, Spencer Cushing, channel his inner Hugh Grant, recreating the iconic Girls Aloud “Jump (For My Love) dance scene.

Little did Spencer know, his light-hearted video would become a social media sensation, racking up over 11,000 views in less tnan three days, and close to 20 hours of watch time on Instagram alone.

The estate agent says he had just finished shooting a property tour at a property in the heart of Burnham, when the idea came to them.

Spencer said: “We had the perfect set! At first, I thought it would be a bit of fun, something to make my colleagues laugh.

“But then I showed my 20-year-old daughter and her immediate reaction was ‘Dad, please can I share this with my friends’… that’s when I thought ok, maybe this could bring some Christmas joy to our clients too.”

Bringing cheer to others is the Norfolk Estate Agent’s theme this season; the business is supporting two local charities, Nelson’s Journey and St Martins Housing, contributing to positive change and helping those in need.

Spencer added: “At Sowerbys we’re all local people keen to support our local area and neighbours. Sharing the video was just a small way of saying, “Merry Christmas and thank you for being part of our community.”

Carly Grigglestone, Sowerbys’ marketing director, commented: “There’s something timeless about ‘Love Actually’ which warms our hearts every year.

“Spencer’s homage to the film captures the spirit of arguably the most iconic scene. We all know what’s coming next and you just can’t stop watching.

“You see a lot of Christmas adverts this time of year with a theme of hardship and an underlying message for people to look out for one other – and we couldn’t agree with this sentiment more, but Spencer’s efforts have allowed us to share something which will hopefully bring a smile to people’s faces.”
