Estate agents can register now to preview a new online conveyancing channel.
Veyo is about to be launched jointly by the Law Society and IT firm Mastek UK.
It will bring together all the processes, checks and documentation undertaken by solicitors and licensed conveyancers in the sale and purchase of residential properties in one place online.
It aims to offer an efficient, secure and transparent way of managing the conveyancing process.
Agents will be able to access the system to keep track of the sale of their client’s home, with features to include a “chain view”.
They will be able to see where hold-ups are occurring, for example if a council is dragging its feet over a search or a lender is being slow to make a decision on a mortgage application.
So far, some 1,300 conveyancing firms have signed up to the new service.
Elliott Vigar, CEO of Veyo, said: “We have had an excellent response from the conveyancing industry as the roll-out of the portal gathers pace. It will transform the home-buying process for not only conveyancers but estate agents and home buyers.
“The chain view feature will be available to estate agents soon after the initial launch to the conveyancing industry, and we are therefore encouraging the industry to register now for development updates and an opportunity for a preview prior to the launch.”

Just to make things clear, in case anyone misinterprets:
“So far, some 1,300 conveyancing firms have signed up to the new service.”
“Signed up” actually means something akin to “registered an interest in”. In a recent survey I carried out, when nearly two hundred of my Bold Legal Group law firm members responded, only two indicated the slightest intention (at this time) to “sign up” to actually use Veyo.
I suggest that you don’t put pressure on your friendly conveyancer to “sign up” to use Veyo, until they tell you the system is fit for purpose.

I agree with Rob. The system does not look very useful at the moment. We already have a brilliant case management system and this won’t add anything of benefit to us or our clients as far as I can see. Listen to the lawyers you deal with and not the people trying to push this system.
