Seven staff members from Thomas Morris estate agency in St Neots braved some blustery conditions and slept outside their office on Market Square for one night.
The Thomas Morris team experienced first-hand what it was like to sleep on the streets and raise awareness for those who live without a home.
The charity sleepout successfully raised almost £3,000 in aid of the 3 Pillars – Feeding the Homeless Trust.
Francesca Hogben, assistant branch manager, said: “The weather actually overnight was pretty horrendous. There was a bin flying down the road at one point.
“It was crazy. I think we picked one of the worst nights of the year so far to do it, but it just made it feel all that more authentic.”
To help the group get through the night, an ex-3 Pillars volunteer and current 3 Pillars volunteer visited the group and provided bags of essentials such as hot drinks, candles and even chocolate.
More than 30 people came down to spur the group on and donate money into the collection bucket.
Including online donations and money from Agents Giving, the Thomas Morris team have raised more than £2,800 and eclipsed their initial £1,200 target.
Hogben added: “The next day, we all woke up quite emotional, and I spent the whole day just thinking, reflecting and feeling incredibly grateful for what I have in my life because we didn’t even experience homelessness properly at all; we just slept on the street.
“I’m glad we’re doing something to try and help, but it was incredibly humbling.”
Co-founder of 3 Pillars, Mick Pescod, said: “We are very grateful to Simon Bradbury and the Thomas Morris team of volunteers and supporters who have made regular donations over the years to our Charity.
“This helps us to provide food, clothing, toiletries, sleeping bags, tents and pet food to the homeless and vulnerable in the St Neots area.
“Without Thomas Morris’ support, this would certainly curtail our operations.”
