Estate agent sentenced to life after wife’s murder must serve at least 15 years

An estate agent who stabbed his wife to death after she taunted him sexually has been jailed for life.

David Clark, 49, will spend at least 15 years behind bars for murdering his wife of ten years, Melanie, at their home in Worcestershire on New Year’s Eve.

Clark, 49, had told his trial at Birmingham Crown Court he could remember nothing of stabbing his wife in the chest at their home near Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

Clark and his wife, a mother of four from a previous relationship, had allegedly rowed about her lesbian relationship.

Barring any successful appeal, the interest for the industry will be to see just how quickly – and if – Clark’s name will appear on the public register of estate agents banned by regulator NTSEAT.

It would also be interesting to see how quickly – and if – his name will appear on the new blacklist of letting agents that went live in April. Unfortunately, though, this is not a public list and is only accessible to local and central government.
