For most of us Christmas will be a good and relaxing break from work.
But for one agent, Paul Campbell, of Campbells in Daventry, Northants, there will be more work than usual.
Campbell, who heads up the Campbells franchising business, flies out this Sunday to Nepal to help rebuild a village that was almost completely destroyed in this year’s earthquakes.
He said that 86 homes out of 92 in the village, Thangkalpot 1, had been demolished.
Campbell, whose experience includes refurbishing dilapidated homes in the midlands, believes his project management experience will come in handy.
He has been actively fund-raising, with the money to help buy building materials, safety glasses and blankets.
Campbell is taking his 14-year-old son Will with him.
He said: “I can’t deny we are feeling a bit nervous, but we are prepared – well, as far as vaccines and general common sense are concerned.
“It’s one thing to go to a poor country and stay in a westernised hotel but a different challenge when you know you are going to be living in the most basic cold conditions just below the Himalayas.
“More than anything I would just like to make people aware that other people sometimes live in some extremely difficult conditions and for me to take a few days out of life won’t do me any harm, and potentially with the help of donations we will make a massive difference to a few families for generations.”
Anyone wishing to donate can do so online at
