Estate agent fined for illegal display board

Charles Lear & Co, a well-established estate agency in Cheltenham, has been ordered to pay £1,550, for displaying an advertisement board illegally in Charlton Kings.

The company, based in the Promenade, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court last week, to acting in contravention of the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements, England) Regulations 2007 between 10-31 March 2021, by displaying the advert.

Director Thomas Hatcher represented the firm at the hearing.

Magistrates fined the firm £500 and ordered it to pay £1,000 costs and a £50 surcharge. The firm was given until 6 April to pay the total due of £1,550.
