Cardwells Estate Agents in Bolton has installed a public access defibrillator outside its town centre office on Institute Street, just off Bradshawgate.
The lifesaving device will be available 24/7 and can be used by any member of the public in the event of a cardiac emergency.
The initiative has been praised, as immediate access to a defibrillator can significantly increase survival rates during sudden cardiac arrest. Cardwells’ move highlights the growing role local businesses can play in supporting community health and safety.
Andrew Cardwell, managing director of Cardwells Estate Agents, commented: “We are neighbours with fabulous businesses, two houses of worship, shops, a wide variety of professional people, and there is a significant residential population, with apartments, and student accommodation nearby.
“With the continuing development and regeneration of Bolton town centre, the residential population is only set to grow in the medium and long term.
“Having a defibrillator on Institute Street means that our neighbours, our colleagues, in fact anyone, can have immediate access to vital emergency medical equipment that could save a life.
“Although we hope that it is never needed, we’re proud to be able to contribute just a little bit to help make the people of our Bolton community a tiny bit safer in a crisis.”
The defibrillator is designed for public use, with clear, step-by-step instructions that make it easy to operate – even for those with no medical training. It is also registered with the local ambulance service, enabling emergency call handlers to guide people to its location quickly when every second counts.
Sarah Jones, founder of Restart The Heart charity, said: “Every defibrillator is a lifeline, and thanks to Andrew Cardwell and all at Cardwells Estate Agents, this one will be there when it’s needed most.
“Their generosity could mean the difference between life and death for someone in Bolton.”
