Estate agency photographer hurt after being dragged down road by moped thieves

A property photographer was taken to hospital after being dragged down a road by moped-riding thieves.

The woman, in her 20s, is employed by industry supplier Niche Communications.

She was sitting in her parked car in London when two youths rode up on mopeds.

The pillion rider jumped off, opened her car door and grabbed her case containing expensive photography equipment.

She struggled with the thief but he punched her hand and jumped back on the moped.

The woman jumped out of her car and gave chase. She managed to grab the case, but suffered shoulder injuries after she was dragged 20 yards down the road and was forced to let go of the case.

Niche Communications said she had been left very shaken by the incident, and that estate agency staff should be aware of the growing incidence of moped crime in the capital.

It is time that senior police officers changed their guidelines/policy and allowed their officers to chase these  moped criminals. If some die as a result of their criminality so be it; it is their own choice. As long as they are allowed to ride without fear of justice because they choose to ride without crash helmets in the knowledge they will not be pursued they will continue to do so.  I would not want my wife or daughter to be victim of these scumbags. Maybe a harsh view but why protect those who do wrong?

Moped crime has increased significantly in London and the main reason is the Met have one hand tied behind their back.
