Estate agency pair near end of extraordinary marathon feat in aid of charity

Good luck to a remarkable duo who are on the final lap of completing a truly marathon challenge.

Emma Preston and Clint Nykamp have now run the 11th of their 12 marathons to raise money for homeless charities supported by the Fine & Country Foundation.

So far the pair have raised over £7,000 of a final target of £9,000.

Emma was formerly regional manager with the Guild of Property Professionals and is now an account manager with auction firm Iamsold.

Clint is partner of Fine & Country West Midlands.

The pair have travelled across the country, trained, stretched, ached and raced for 11 months. This month they went to Kidderminster, Worcestershire, for the Seven Deadly Sins marathon gala. Saturday was the day of Greed.

With a looping course, deceptively difficult hill and only 14 competitors taking part, Emma and Clint discovered that this race was one of the toughest of the whole challenge.

Mentally, Emma struggled and ran much of the race on her own. Physically, Clint was struck with cramp affecting his race time and his recovery time the following day.

The pair will go to Walton-on-Thames in Surrey for the final race in the year-long challenge on Saturday. To mark the occasion, the pair will start and finish the race together.

Emma said: “I can’t believe that Race 11 is finished and we only have one final marathon left. I won’t know what to do with my weekends.”

The Fine & Country Foundation has given more than £100,000 in grants to 25 charities for the homeless in the UK and overseas.

Every penny goes directly to a project, from buying shipping containers to convert into self-sustainable flats to funding personalised move-in packs for clients living in temporary unsupported accommodation.
