Churchills Estate Agents is marking its 40th anniversary this September, four decades after opening its first office in York in 1985.
Founded by Bob and Sheila Webb on 28 September 1985, the business has remained family-run, with their son Kevin Webb joining in 1987. Today, Churchills operates three offices in York, Easingwold, and Boroughbridge, employing a team of 30 across its Sales, Lettings, Block Management, and Holiday Lets divisions.
Leadership has expanded in recent years, with Ashley Mehr appointed as a Director in 2023 to oversee operations, particularly in Lettings and Block Management. Kevin Webb’s sons, Adam and Max, have also joined the business.
While the sales market has cooled following the post-pandemic boom, the agency reports steady activity, with demand in the rental sector remaining high.
To mark the 40-year milestone, Churchills has launched a local voucher initiative in partnership with over 20 independent businesses near its offices. The scheme offers £40 vouchers for use in local shops, cafés, and restaurants near Gillygate and Bishopthorpe Road in York, and Chapel Street in Easingwold.
Kevin Webb said: “We would like to sincerely thank the thousands of clients who have trusted us over the last 40 years to help them buy, sell, or rent their homes”
“Our commitment to quality service remains stronger than ever, and we look forward to continuing to support our clients and our local community for many more years to come.”
