Joe Shorney, director and head of Midlands residential development sales at Savills, has been named as Emerging Residential Property Person of the Year at the 2022 Midlands Residential Property Awards.

The awards ceremony, which is organised by Insider Media Limited, took place at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham last week.

“I am absolutely delighted, somewhat shocked and humbled to have won this award. I am so proud of what the team has achieved in a relatively short space of time and I am incredibly excited for the future,” said Shorney, who has more than 15 years’ experience in the property industry.

He spent the early part of his career working in the office agency department for GBR Phoenix Beard, and subsequently Savills following the merging of the two firms in 2016.

In January 2018, Shorney was approached to setup a new residential development sales team at Savills in the Midlands and, since its inception, he has developed an impressive track record of winning business in a fiercely competitive market across Birmingham and the wider Midlands region.

George Cardale, head of residential development sales at Savills, commented: “Joe has done a superb job establishing the Midlands residential development sales team, which continues to go from strength-to-strength. I am proud to congratulate him on this fantastic accolade which recognises all that he has done and continues to do within the property industry.”

Commenting on Shorney’s win, the judges said: “Joe has achieved an enormous amount in a short space of time and established a big reputation. He’s developed long-term strategic relationships and identified new business opportunities and his hard work led to the sale of 61 homes with a gross development value of over £18m.”
