Two energy companies with specific links to the property industry have made it to the list of Britain’s fastest-growing companies.
Spark, a utility supplier specialising in the private rented sector, came in at 23 in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table for 2014.
Spark currently supplies some 120,000 properties in the UK and earlier this year chalked up its 300,000th customer since launch in 2007.
Spark has also seen annual sales growth of 97% over the last three years and posted its second successive profit. It forecasts continued substantial growth in the next few years, with turnover in the coming year forecast at £130m.
Spark CEO Chris Gauld said: “Our success is in part down to the burgeoning rental market and the growing number of property lets across the UK. We also have to thank the efforts of our letting agent partners.”
Also in the list, at number 97, was Vibrant Energy Matters, an EPC provider which is part of Connells.
Managing director Michael Wayman said: “We now complete over 160,000 EPCs and Green Deal advice reports a year, and employ almost 150 field agents.
“We also work across a range of sectors from housing associations and public sector bodies to estate agents and directly with home owners.
“The upturn on the housing market, as well as the emphasis on rising energy bills and finding ways to counter these, has contributed to our growth.
“Additionally we have invested into our business and become the largest provider of energy assessments in the UK.”
Sales at Vibrant Energy Matters, founded by Michael Wayman and Chris Clark six years ago, have gown by an average of 47% a year, to reach £7.2m last year.
