Employee faces jail after stealing £390k from agents

A woman who systematically stole nearly £400,000 from her estate and letting agency employers has been warned she faces jail.

Shirley Player, 61, of Bournemouth, admitted a single count of theft at Bournemouth Crown Court.

She stole £390,550 between February 2007 and March 2014 from Leaders, trading as Allan & Bath which has three offices in the area at Poole, Christchurch and New Milton.

Tom Wright, prosecuting, said it was thought the money had been spent.

Player is due to be sentenced on October 3.

Judge Peter Johnson released her on bail but warned that a custodial sentence “of some length is inevitable”.

Allan & Bath, which handles both sales and lettings, was founded in 1898 and became part of Leaders in 2006.
