In February, Ed Mead of Viewber and property investor Oliver Lambert will be driving a pickup to Ukraine filled with much-needed supplies for victim’s of war in the country.
The money they raise will go straight to them and is one way of directly helping the people of Ukraine in their resistance efforts.
Mead and Lambert will also be purchasing the pick up – which they will leave for the Ukrainians to use as they see fit and make our own way back. The pair are asking property professionals to donating to the cause through JustGiving.
Mead told EYE: “Many of us might have wondered how we can help Ukrainians. Many put refugees up when the war started and I certainly prevaricated over what to do to help. The upshot is that I’m driving a pick-up to Lviv in February with a friend. We then leave the pick-up, full of gear they need, and make our own way back. They then use the pick-up as they see fit.
“The logistics are handled by the fantastic Pickups for Peace – who also know exactly what gear and pick-ups are needed. This wonderful organisation’s founder was cited in The Times’s version of the new year’s honours list and, to date, they’ve sent over almost 500 pick-ups. Such a clever idea – especially as the incentive started with farmers looking to help and how many ex ULEZ pick-ups there probably are about.
“The money raised will pay for the pick-up and kit, with any extra going towards getting more kit and pick-ups.
“If anyone feels inclined to contribute, we’d be most grateful”.
