easyProperty getting set to hike prices charged to vendors

easyProperty looks to be hiking its fees on September 3.

It is sending round a canvassing email, telling potential sellers that the countdown is on.

While it doesn’t explicitly say it is putting up prices, the flyer does say: “This means you’ve only got two weeks left to buy our current low cost packages”.

It says that both packages include everything needed to sell your home “and mean you could save thousands compared to an agent that charges commission” – an apparent irony, given that easyProperty licences are operated by agents who do charge commission.

Although a button on the email invites you to “view current packages”, yesterday we found only one package was visible.

It says that easyProperty currently charges £295 upfront and a completion fee of £595.

However, under FAQ, it says that an alternative is to pay an upfront fee of £595.

As EYE reported earlier this month, a number of easyProperty licensees have given the required year-long notice to quit, while recruitment of new licensees has been on hold since the end of June.

CEO Jon Cooke also revealed that a new advisory council of licensees had met in mid July and was reviewing the licensing regime, including the costs charged to consumers.

So Purple Bricks are advertising more times than washing powders, I get an email from YOPA every 5 minutes asking if I’d like my house valued but easyProperty cleverly send a canvassing email saying their prices are going up.

    Yep that should do it.

As a conveyancer, we hear 000s of customer feedback reports on their choice of agent.

On that basis alone, I cannot recommend (to friends and family, let alone the public) any Agent who charges upfront.

Cheap Agents send the wrong message to buyers (i.e can you imagine where else in the property’s maintenance has the homeowner also been cheap).

Having dealt with Jon Cooke, and watched him speak publicly on various occasions, I must admit to having no clue whatsoever how on earth he has got to where he has in our industry.

The only things the Easy brand is known for is being cheap and poor service…… and they are putting the prices up……. cant see low service and high prices being a winning combination.

easyProperty licensees are local high street estate agents right? So the story here is local estate agents inform vendors that they’re putting their prices up?
