Do you think that estate agents know the CEOs in the big UK Estate Agency firms? That is the lead question property journalist Chris Watkin put to Russell Quirk in a recent interview.
Many large estate agents simply do rely on a largely invisible CEO was Quirk’s response in a nutshell.
The property commentator believes that far too many estate agencies appoint CEOs that “do not cover themselves in glory in terms of being out there, and being visible”.

Or some, that are scandal ridden, that we hear far too much of on here

“and i’m not saying this because it’s a convenient thing for a guy like me in PR to say……. ”
i would have respected it more if you’d said the truth Russell, come on. i agree with a lot of what is presented here but if your culture is to mislead, speak falsely, hide the real intent then i’d prefer my boss to be quiet.
Why not say “i really believe i can help modern agency CEO’s build culture through positive PR focused on bringing their personal values and vision to their people, customers and investors. i believe in being visible and my PR agency would make a big difference to Vic and Nic and others.”
Now, us the reader is left to think if Russel works with an agency CEO it’s because they too want to “tell a story” designed to hoodwink us.

How this man gets air time is beyond me!! Tried to kill the high street, failed! Tried to run a business on cheap fees, failed. Still believes he can add value to the industry, failed.

Some credit is due to RQ because his high profile spoutings when he was CEO of emoov about the death of high street estate agents , , how the onliners will take 50% of the market by 2020 , how emoov is worth £100m , leave the reader in no doubt who takes the blame for the failure of emoov. Bravo Russell……..

Who would employ him for their PR? He’s simply toxic and conniving.

Why does PIE keep giving voices to the burks in this industry instead of the men and women on the ground who see things as they are everyday?

surely a better question is “do you think that estate agents know the CLOWNS in the industry? answers on a post card and the clue is “who was involved in the conversation”

I’m not sure what the point of the question is: if there was any merit or benefit in a CEO having a high public profile every single one of them would be an industry celebrity. Estate agency is a #local service industry where 80-85% of businesses don’t have a CEO and don’t warrant a CEO. Who the top dog of the the other 15-20% is doesn’t matter to either those CEO’s or the public they serve. The #local branch are the interface and that’s all that matters.
Proper executives tend to have intellectual maturity about them where their ego is put to one side. Who they are matters less than what they do. That way when an executive or CEO changes there is little or no effect at the coalface where the money is earned.

Why do Property Eye give so much ‘air time’ to Russell Quick?. Don’t know the guy but he comes across as a negative, arrogant, over aggressive failed ex Estate Agent who couldn’t run a bath let along an Estate Agency business. I wish he would keep his disrupting opinions to himself and let us focus on the good work that we all do. A typical vendor doesn’t care who the CEO is, silent or otherwise. They only care about who is going to act on their behalf to sell their house at ‘ground level’. We are in tough times with more competition fighting for instructions in a shrinking market so everything and anything that Russell Quirk comments about is irrelevant and non news worthy. Hardly a property guru that he portrays himself to be.

“…he comes across as a negative, arrogant, over aggressive failed ex Estate Agent who couldn’t run a bath let along an Estate Agency business”
But he isn’t. He really isn’t.
He is still an Estate Agent. No “ex” about it…
