Dexters acquires fourth independent estate agency in just one month

Dexters has completed its fourth acquisition in just a month, with the purchase of another independent estate agency in London.

EYE understands that the fast-growing property group has just completed a deal to buy Homesite in Notting Hill.

Founded in 2006, Homesite also covers the market in nearby Bayswater, Kensington and Holland Park from its single office on Westbourne Grove, W11.

This latest deal follows on from the purchase of Cubes Residential in Hendon, NW4, which completed last week, as revealed exclusively by EYE.

Earlier this month, Dexters announced the acquisition of well-respected east-London based estate agent Keatons, along with local south London estate agent James Alexander in Norbury, but there was no mention of Cube Residential – and the company has still not officially confirmed the purchase of Homesite.

EYE has approached Dexters for comment.

Recent acquisitions plus the opening of two new Dexters offices in Surbiton and Canada Water have enlarged the group’s portfolio of local high street London offices by 12 in just one month.

EYE understands that the fast-growing estate agency is close to securing further acquisitions in the coming weeks.

The Dexters group, chaired by former Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King and led by Andy Shepherd, now operates more than 180 offices across London, managing over 48,000 landlords and serving more than 200,000 buyers and tenants actively seeking homes in London.

Are small agents simply getting out of a shrinking industry or is it something else?

I mentioned this yesterday, it’s a case of the ‘bigs’ in the sector getting bigger. The likes of Dexters, Foxtons and recently Lomond are picking up quality businesses whilst the rest struggle and eventually will just leave the sector altogether. The market will be controlled by just a few names in say five years time or even before that.
