Deposit scheme API aims to streamline processes

The Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) has announced an API integration with EREC Estates Ltd, a property management company specialising in student accommodation investment and development.

TDS API is designed to streamline the registration of deposits, eliminating the need for manual data input.

Previously, agents had to duplicate deposit information from their CRM systems onto the deposit scheme platform. With the integration of the TDS API, this process becomes automated.

The API integration is available to all TDS agent customers, including those enrolled in both the custodial and insured schemes. Additionally, clients of EREC Estates will also benefit from the integration.

In 2016, EREC Estates launched UNINN, a student accommodation brand. Today, UNINN operates numerous properties – totalling 1400 beds – in Coventry, Sheffield, Newcastle and Leicester.

Debbie Davies, head of sales and customer success at TDS, commented: “We are pleased to announce the successful integration of our API with EREC Estates.

“Our integration is a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to make tenancy deposit management more efficient for everyone involved.”

Tom Li, business manager at EREC Estates, said: “This integration with TDS API not only enhances our work efficiency, saving time in the creation of TDS accounts and data entry, but also significantly reduces our error rates, allowing us to avoid the pitfalls of human error.”

The fact this is newsworthy is embarrassing. The government have put in place such high barriers to entry, that there is no room for innovation, so we end up in 2023 celebrating the fact a deposit scheme has an API!!

Why haven’t we seen a new deposit scheme since deposit schemes were made compulsory???

All the innovation is in deposit alternatives (like Reposit) who are incentivised to innovate. Sadly the government restrictions means no agent can require using the alternatives, and so nobody can compete with the big 3 deposit schemes.
