The departure of a key Countrywide senior member of staff has been confirmed.
She is Kim Chiles, who was appointed as “retail director” of Midlands East as part of the restructure announced last October.
She was one of four retail directors in the Midlands division.
While her patch is Midlands East, it includes branches which would not normally be seen in that area – for example, some along the south coast.
A spokesperson for Countrywide said last night: “After 26 years of working for Countrywide, Kim Chiles will be leaving the business. We would like to thank Kim for her immense time, commitment and loyalty to Countrywide and wish her well for the future.”
I remember watching a graphic nature programme where a Kimono Dragon was stalking a large Ox. It struck at the ankle and then followed the lumbering beast for hours as the poison slowly took hold and the animal eventually died a slow, tortuous death. Not sure what made me think of that …..

When managment came up with the title RETAIL in the same breath as agent they lost me. Why devalue a business to tesco level. Confusing titles for a confused business with no direction.

Brilliant analogy Fawkes. However I think you’ll find it was a Komodo Dragon. The Kimono Dragon was a sub species that became extinct years ago. It was unable to run fast enough with all that fabric wrapped round its legs…

I just got a dislike. Great to know that PIE has at least one North Korean reader 🙂

All these experienced estate agents leaving can’t all be wrong so there must be something very rotten in the state of Denmark. Something more sinister than we outside observers can see for ourselves.

Interviewed a chap a couple of weeks back who worked for Lloyds bank and worked a o project to migrate all of the branch contacts/customers to the internet only to find out when it was done that he had just made himself redundant as they closed the branch.
Sound familiar, other than Kim, saw the outcome first.

Is this the “RATS/SHIP” scenario ?
You cant have this many changes without a serious change in direction. are CW heading for the rocks or trying to steer away from them.
Either way
Choppy waters ahead.

Apparently yesterdays exit was a man over board and pushed.

Countrywide put the rocks in place, ditched the gps and stayed in the locality until the brexit storm came.
Then the skipper wanted to be the chief engineer and the navigator turned out to be the chef.

Really surprised at this, she was well thought of by Countrywide. However the restructuring that’s been going on i’m not surprised.

LA201625 – you write as if she was pushed… is it not more likely that she has left to what is usually described as “pursue a new venture”?

I’ve not written it with any hidden agenda, I do know what the situation is, however.
I’m not going to air it on here however.

That’s fair enough – my post was more of an observation than anything.
Two positives then – another company will be able to capitalise on CWs shortsightedness… and Ms Chiles will have a nice farewell package to enjoy!
Good luck to her!

The editorial standard of the original article is appalling, but the kimono dragon story more than made up for it!

Not sure what I like most about PIE. The interesting news content or the humour it generates! I have to read it as soon as it hits my inbox.
