Countrywide picks up title of best large agent in both sales and lettings

Countrywide put its woes behind it as it claimed the title of best large estate agent at this year’s ESTA awards. It also triumphed in the lettings category.

Logic Estates won the gong of best Feefo agent, and the best agent office in the UK was named as Dale Eddison Ilkley, followed by Logic Estate, and Williams and Donovan Hockley.

House Network and House Simple won gold and silver for best online agents at the ESTAS on Friday. Journalist Nigel Lewis, who was in the audience, tweeted: “How rude! Well done @Housesimple. Booing was a bit naughty.”

House Network has now won the award for the third consecutive year. It is based in Essex and charges £775, claiming to save vendors an average of £5,400, based on a high street fee of 1.5%.  It is led by CEO Mark Readings.

Best local agency group, with two to five offices, was Williams & Donovan, followed by Dale Eddison and John Minnis.

Best regional agent, with six to 20 offices, was Butters John Bee, followed by Beercocks and Kings Group.

In lettings, the best online agent as rated by landlords was Upad; the best local agency group was Thorgills, followed by Williams Estates, and Dale Eddison.

Best regional agency group was Balgores, followed by Jordan Fishwick and Kings Group.

Countrywide Lettings, followed by Belvoir, was named best large agency group, and the best letting agent office in the UK award went to Kings Group Harlow, followed by Bristol Property Centre, and base property specialists.

The best letting agent office in the UK rated by tenants was Lynks, followed by Plymouth Homes Crownhill, and Home Finders at Richard James.

Winning suppliers to the industry included Reapit and Homelet, while the gold award went to Agency Express, followed by Metropix and TDS Northern Ireland.

Many congratulations to all the winners.

Shows how pointless these awards are doesn’t it, when a company closing dozens of branches nationwide is considered the best.

I’ve watched ESTA awards for some years. Competition is pathetic. Some agents are effectively the only entrants in some categories. Maybe some statistician can work the numbers % of UK agents to agents who enter in the categories etc. And when anyone brag they won they should be made to disclose these facts, which is a true meaning.
