Taylor Wimpey appoints first female CEO
Following the announcement on 8 December 2021 that Pete Redfern will be stepping down as CEO of Taylor Wimpey after more than 14 years of service in the role, the board has announced that Jennie Daly has been appointed as CEO, effective from the conclusion of the AGM on 26 April 2022.
The housebuilder appointment follows a thorough recruitment and selection process, led by the Nomination and Governance Committee of the Board, that considered a long list of industry and non-industry candidates, along with extensive consultation with shareholders.
Jennie Daly is currently group operations director of Taylor Wimpey and a member of the Board of Directors. In her existing role, she will oversees Taylor Wimpey’s land, planning, design, technical, sustainability, production and supply chain functions, as well as managing the Taylor Wimpey Logistics business.
Daly, who has almost 30 years of experience in the housebuilding and land and planning industries, joined Taylor Wimpey in 2014 from Redrow Plc where she was managing director of its Harrow Estates business and, prior to that, was Group Land Manager at Westbury Plc. Her early career was in local authority and council planning roles in Macclesfield and Blackpool. Jennie is also a Non Executive Director of the Peabody Trust and of the New Homes Quality Board Limited.
Daly said: “This is an outstanding business with a strong landbank and strategic land pipeline, and a talented and committed team. Taylor Wimpey is strongly positioned to deliver sustainable sector-leading growth and returns, whilst always operating as a responsible business. I am energised by the opportunities at Taylor Wimpey and look forward to working closely with the Board and our teams to deliver on the significant potential at the company.”
haart’s new Bristol Property Centre is led by former apprentice
haart has opened its new Bristol Property Centre, led by Tom Howell, a former apprentice at the firm who, at the age of 24, already has a history of leading branches.
Howell has worked in the industry since he was 17, building his way up from an apprentice to different manager and director roles.
He said: “Growth is so important to me, and I’m so lucky to have progressed so young in my career. I would put it all down to hard work and knowledge from others. I hope to pass this on to my team and continue this development as haart’s Bristol Property Centre expands.
“Recruitment is going to be a big part of my role; I want to ensure I have the best possible team in Bristol with the best resources to put us at the top. 2022 is going to be a year of hard work and a team effort to really build our presence within Bristol and ensure we are number one.”
The team is currently made up of eight in-house and four home-based partners who work within Bristol but the aim is to grow this within a year to a team of over 20. Already the team has doubled the number of appointments compared to January last year.
Howell added: “I am excited to look after my home-based partners and oversee the Property Centre. I am so happy to be on the ground acting as a visible Area Partner who can train and coach my team while working alongside them.”
Matt Barrett, haart’s estate agency director for West and Wales, added: “Tom embodies everything that Bristol is about with an absolute passion for customer care and getting people moved.
“Here we have a great estate agent and leader working on the South West’s most diverse and exciting property market – it’s the perfect match!”
