Andrew Simmonds is the new chair of Experts in Property
Bristol property specialist, Andrew Simmonds, has been elected chair of Experts in Property, replacing Cornwall-based former estate agent, Steve Moir.
The well-known Southwest network of independent estate agents was established in 1980 with member offices across Cornwall, Devon and West Dorset. In 2013, it launched its Distinctly Westcountry brand and expanded into Somerset and Bristol. Now, it has member offices covering the whole region, as far north as South Gloucestershire and eastward to Ringwood and Christchurch.
Steve was the ‘Moir’ in Saltash estate agency Hennings Moir, which opened in 1984 and came under new ownership when Steve retired from estate agency in 2018. Chairman of the network from 2001 until 2006, Moir once again took to the helm in 2009 and has remained in the post, even since retiring from agency. Now, however, after 14 years in the role, he has hung up his hat and intends to enjoy full retirement.
Taking the reins from Moir is Simmonds. A working estate agent, qualified surveyor, RICS registered valuer and member of ARLA, NAEA, NAVA and the IRPM, he has spent more than two decades working in the property sector and co-hosts a monthly property podcast that serves as an industry benchmark.
Simmonds said: “It’s [Experts in Property] a great organisation and Steve has done a fantastic job. We’re all very sad to see him leave and wish him all the best for his retirement. Looking forward, we will of course be reviewing the range of benefits for members and looking to expand them even further, making membership to the network an even more compelling proposition for independent agents across the region and beyond.”
The non-profit making organisation is run by the agents, for the agents, supported by one paid member of staff. Most offices are family-run, and each has a local reputation to protect and uphold. By working together, every agency offers property for sale throughout the region.
Honiton estate agent of more than 30 years, Roger Hemming has also joined Okehampton-based James Stevens and the long-standing Andy Pounsberry on the board of directors.
PCL super-agent Charles Lloyd returns to Beauchamp Estates
Charles Lloyd, aka ‘Mr Mayfair’, has rejoined Beauchamp Estates from from CBRE as had of sales at the agency’s Mayfair office on Curzon Street.
Lloyd will also be looking after Ultra-Prime sales across Mayfair, St James’s, Kensington & Chelsea and neighbouring prime central London enclaves as well as advising Beauchamp Estates’ global network of Ultra-High-Net-Worth clients.
Lloyd has been involved in residential property for more than 35 years and enjoyed a glittering career so far – earning himself the epithet ‘Mr Mayfair’ and being namechecked in wealth management bible Spear’s 500.
A well-established estate agent in prime central London he has held the record for the most expensive house ever sold in Mayfair, in May 2015, for £90m, at £4,700 per sq. ft.
His new role is also a return to Beauchamp Estates, for whom he worked as a senior negotiator across the high-value London homes market between 1992 and 2006.
He rejoins from CBRE where in 2020 he was tasked with co-founding its Private Office, primarily helping Ultra-High-Net-Worth private clients in their sale and acquisition of super-prime homes across prime central London and the Home Counties. He also oversaw discreet off-market trophy home sales on behalf of clients.
Lloyd commented: “Having worked in the corporate world for many years, I was keen to get back to the cut and thrust of buying and selling at an independent Ultra Prime agency so returning to Beauchamp Estates was an obvious choice.
“I have watched and admired the way the firm has expanded since I left in 2006 from being a boutique London agency into a multi-national global leader in Ultra-Prime property.
“I bring to the role not just a forensic knowledge of Mayfair and the Prime Central London property market but of what makes each neighbourhood so special.”
Gary Hersham, founding director of Beauchamp Estates, added: “We are delighted to welcome Charles back to the Beauchamp Estates fold, this time as Head of Sales for our Mayfair office, handling properties and deals in Mayfair and neighbouring Prime London addresses.
“Charles is one of London’s best-known and most successful agents who has held the record for the most expensive house ever sold in Mayfair.
“He brings with him a profound knowledge of the Ultra-Prime residential market and a deep understanding of how to advise Ultra-High-Net-Worth clients.”
