A high profile agent has left Chestertons ten months after being appointed because of his franchising expertise. However, Chestertons says that it will be rolling out its international expansion this month.
Derrick Maguire has now been announced as the new CEO of European agent Luxfair Realty.
A piece in the Malta Times says that he aims to grow the brand in Malta and into Europe.
There are said to be ambitious plans to open offices in Malta, Spain, Portugal and London, where Chestertons is headquartered.
The story also says that Luxfair Realty has “decided to drop the name Chestertons”.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Maguire was appointed at Chestertons in January and left last month.
At Chestertons, the launch of the franchise offering was announced in May.
Maguire’s role was to help its expansion through franchising, overseeing the brand’s new offering “the Chestertons Way”.
Maguire was said to be managing the UK expansion.
His career has also included stints as franchise manager for Martin & Co, and at Belvoir where he was regional manager for Scotland.
Last night Chestertons said that Maguire has left for personal reasons.
Gavin Vercoe, appointed at the same time as Maguire to oversee expansion of Chestertons by franchising, remains with the company.
He said: “The department is expanding rapidly, with a second appointment from Sothebys International Realty to be announced shortly.
“We are in an exciting phase of growth and will be rolling out our international expansion this month.”
