Charity set up in name of murdered agent opens for applications

A charity set up in memory of a young woman estate agent has raised over £10,000 in its first eight months.

The Nikki Waterhouse Trust was set up in memory of the Hunters employee who was murdered at the age of 32.

Nikki, daughter of Hunters’ co-founder and president John Waterhouse, was killed at a flat in York in October 2013 by ex-soldier Jeremy Green. Her flatmate, Karen Browne, also a Hunters agent, suffered serious injuries in the attack.

Green pleaded guilty and was jailed for a minimum of 34 years.

The charity was launched last October and sets out to support children and families who have encountered disaster in the UK.

As well as fund-raising events such as a charity golf day and a Three Peaks climb, Hunters staff can donate through  a payroll giving facility.

Hunters managing director Glynis Frew said Hunters franchisees are also making monthly or one-off donations to the Trust. Practical support in the form of calls handling has also been offered by industry supplier Moneypenny.

The Trust is now accepting applications for financial support from the Fund.
