Catfest is back for 2019 and your help (and contact book) is needed!

Industry trainer Julian O’Dell is calling for agents with contacts in the music business to help get guitars signed for auction at this summer’s Catfest event.

He is seeking signatures for a 1990s Gibson Les Paul guitar which was designed and endorsed by Jazz guitarist Les Paul.

O’Dell has already secured signatures on two other guitars from Queen legend Brian May, Dire Straits lead singer Mark Knopfler and other renowned musicians such as Midge Ure.

The May signature was secured through a contact of fellow industry consultant Iain White, and O’Dell is now hoping for help from agents to get high profile musicians to sign the Gibson Les Paul guitar, which is worth around £2,000.

All the lots will be auctioned at this year’s Catfest event to raise money for Action Against Cancer and other charities.

O’Dell said: “EYE readers could massively help by connecting me to other well-known musicians who would be prepared to squiggle on a guitar to enhance the price we achieve.

“Or maybe even give a raffle prize, something we could auction or a financial donation. Every little helps.”

Catfest, which takes place on July 13 and has raised more than £111,000 for charity so far, has a target of £50,000 this year after hitting £45,000 at the 2018 event.

It is sponsored and supported by TM training & development, Rightmove, Simon Whale’s Kerfuffle Club, Eurolink, Acaboom and Reapit plus a number of estate agents including Drivers & Norris, Elevation, Manning Stainton and JNP Partnership.
