A developer is offering purchasers at one of its schemes a total of £1m off if England win the World Cup.
Ten buyers at Galliard Homes’ Grove Place in Eltham, south London, will each get £100,000 refunded.
All the purchasers at the developments will get a ‘golden ticket’ once the draw launches next week on June 6.
However, the chances of Galliard Homes actually having to fork out look extremely thin: England currently has odds of 28/1 of winning the World Cup which starts on June 12 in Brazil.
Brazil are favourites at 3/1, followed by Argentina at 4/1 and Germany at 6/1.
However, England’s chances are somewhat better than those of Greece at 350/1, Iran at 1,500/1 and Honduras at 4,000/1.
The Grove Place development offers 144, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with prices from £250,000.
We would be interested to know what agents will be doing in the way of World Cup promotions – apart from possibly burying their heads in a pillow in memory of the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, which didn’t exactly go well, despite all the investment in special For Sale boards and window displays.
However, see the next story …
