Briefest of descriptions wins agent national media coverage

In what may be one of the most sparse of descriptions to be used on Rightmove, Moores estate agency in Oakham, Rutland, is listing ‘A large 4 bedroom home set within 18 acres with a range of outbuildings.’ for £1.75m. Please call for details or email.

That’s it.

No address,  photos, floorplans or further info – though the approximate location is shown as being near Waltham on the Wolds. Oh, and it has 67mb broadband.

Local press and The Mirror soon picked up on it, with the national daily saying ‘we’ve been left scratching our heads and desperate to know more…’

So perhaps less is more when it comes to marketing a property, as winning publicity in national media will certainly have increased the exposure to the market.

It rather reminds us of the line that was used years ago by compliance trainer David Perkins when the Property Misdescriptions Act was on its way in. He reckoned agents would restrict details to saying: ’52 Acacia Avenue. Believed to be a house’.
